Hello folks,
first of all sorry to have disappeared for so long, a health problem has kept me busy (non covid !).

Thanks for sharing your views about an electric conversion, long story short: the retrofit is considered as a heavy modification here in Switzerland and the car must pass a huge set of tests to ensure that all is done by the book.
The cost is more than ten grand ... I'm going to wait until the price of the liquid compressed dinosaur is prohibitive before rethinking an electric Delorean.

Hello friends,
First of all: Terribly sorry for the lack of news, 2022 has been hectic, and the project has not had the attention it needed. I will do my best to post with more regularity from now on.

That said, I wish you a spectacular new year :-)

Well, well, well… after just a tiny little delay, the chassis of #2327 has finally been acid-stripped and repainted!

It only took slightly longer than expected… you know, like the construction of the pyramids.

Have we reached the grand finale of the disassembly

Postby Bvvarf » Sat Jul 05, 2025 8:57 pm

By a happy twist of fate, work has resumed on the car body, with both doors and their hinges completely removed, along with the remaining bits of the windscreen. The shell is finally totally stripped and ready for a thorough clean — there’s still white dust lurking everywhere — and then off it goes for a fresh coat of paint.

Pandora's roof box

Postby Bvvarf » Mon Jul 07, 2025 8:35 am

A slip-up: the roof box is a tad rusty, sandblasting, paint job and it’ll be back on.

And I think I’ve got a name for the car: Pandora.

Amazing stuff keep going great to see it being brought back to life like that!

Your interior fibreglass looks very clean especially, was it hard to clean any of the left over old carpet residue etc off it ? Did you use anything in particular?

in the middle of doing mine but full of baked on glue and left over carpet pile trying to find easier way to clean the fibreglass.

Thanks
Shane

Hi Shane,
I’m a bit ashamed to admit it… but I cheated.

Since the interior was completely destroyed by three entire families of mice, the carpets were beyond saving, and the cabin smelled like a zoo, there wasn’t much choice.

Once I’d ripped out every last bit of the interior, I gave the whole thing a thorough blast with a pressure washer and scrubbed it down like crazy.

I removed the sticker residue using a light abrasive pad and some isopropyl alcohol.

Hope that helped you out !

Speaking of the state of the fiberglass, I’m taking advantage of having full access to the body shell to give it a little facelift with some filler and a fresh coat of paint.

Got a few paint runs on the sides that need to disappear before I lay down the second coat.

But overall, I’m pretty happy with how it’s turning out — it’s a big step up from the wreck that was sitting around half disassembled!
