Just had a little test drive around the block (just to heat up the engine) and all went well. Thermostat opens up and temperature keeps its 'normal' level. Couldn't get it to heat up so far as to start the fans, but I didn't want to rush things. At least its not leaking!

I saw a couple of coolant drops under the engine, but those drops may well be a remaining of the mayhem of dissection. Tomorrow i'm going for a real drive to check it out.

Thanks, although slightly strange when said by a guy with a sportscar in a white suit and a racing helmet. Yeah don't push it

Since it is a long rainy weekend i decided to take on the restoration of the doors' intestants. After removal of all the trim backets and braces i found out some interesting stuff. Can you spot the differences?

Today I went shopping for a new head-unit. I found a pioneer model with USB and Bluetooth from last year for E 149, but i had to return it because the package contained the wrong leads.

The shop offered me to exchange it for a different make or model, but the only one that carried the same features was an Alpine for E 179,-, which was also the last model they carried. So I asked for a discount and they gave me the Alpine for the same price as the Pioneer. The alpine front is pretty flat and black and looks much better than the grey one i had before.

Installation was easy as pie because the PO already did the DIN connections for me. The previous head unit had to go because the CD drive broke and it had no bluetooth or aux connections.

Following up on the bad way the RH door closes, I've removed, cleaned, adjusted and reconnected the front and rear locks and latches. Removing the actual locks from the door was not as hard as I thought.

Unfortunately i did not have the desired result. The door opens a bit smoother but closing it is still a bit of a hassle. You have to pull/push pretty hard before it properly lines up and locks correctly. I've tried adjusting the striker pins but somehow the door seems to be shifted 'backwards' a bit. The door hits the rear striker pin slightly on the head which pushes the door forward.

Putting back the door handle with those blasted 2 screws is something i'm getting used to now.

Of course I meant the inner door handle, not the outer.

A little follow up on the work for this long weekend. I've been to DeLorean.eu to pick up two new metal door handles, a length of headliner trim, and some small fiddley bits like screws and fir trees. I just reinstalled the RH door handle. I also ground off some material from the rear striker pin because it kept getting hitting by the door. Also, I started pulling of the old headliner.

This weekend i'll be installing the new headliner.

It's been a lot of work on the headliner today, and i'm almost finished.

I learned a lot in the process - one is never to cut surplus material unless you're abso-freaking-lutely sure. I didn't make sure and now there is a 1mm gap in the right front near the A-post. Still nothing to worry about, since the material is very stretchable (just to cover for any mistakes i assume).

All that remains now is to glue the front headliner to the door frame (where the inner door seals meet the headliner), but frankly i'm absolutely knackered from not standing upright.

I'll put up some progress/result pictures tomorrow when the job is done and it's daylight again.

That looks like Tobys door locking system. I had them fitted to my car and they worked great.
