This was the reason that the car ran very rough on low revs and acceleration!! I actually forgot I did that and realised it only on the ferry back. I disconnected ground lead and the car stopped backfiring on low revs.. I had NO IDEA what this is all about, but I checked my old documentation and around 2001 my Dad had the same issue when managing my car.

I only discovered that ground point a few days before Eurotec! Good to hear your car didn't let you down on the trip.

It didn't give me a lot of problems because most of the trip was just cruising @2500 RPM. By Harwich I was used to compensate for the rough acceleration by backshifting a bit more aggressive.

How was your return trip? No more overheating?

Today I took off the old license plate for a bit of cleaning. My Dutch plate is glued to the original US plate. This was the first time I did that. I took an image, flipped it and here it is:

new jersey
AIA 54X
garden state

I sure like to look up the history of that old plate.

I don't think that plate will have any history of your car Rob. Licence plates aren't tied to cars for life in the US, they go by VIN for everything, and if the car was registered in another state it would have another plate with a different number.
Sell it Or Sorn it
