The slave cylinder can be awkward to tighten up where you bleed the clutch fluid so it is not uncommon for a leak here.

Does it taste sweet? Could be a leak at the heater valve dripping down onto the block

@Matthew: It's been a year since I bled the slave, but then I haven't visually checked the VOD. Its hard to believe that fluid stayed there for a year.

@Alistair: I haven't tasted it. It's goo.. Mix of water and dirt. I don't even like guinness!

It may have something to do with the recent coolant dump issues. I tracked it down to hoses not being tight enough. The dump issue moved from clamp to clamp (tank to otterstat to LH pump connection); just as well it may have been the back waterpump connection that now became the weakest link. It didn't leak/dump bad enough to be noticed on the garage floor.

Never ever say that.....you are tempting fate. Its like you're challenging the car to break down on the way to Lux. Never trust the car, its just getting you into a comfort zone before it does something horrible......just like me ex girlfriends.

Nice pics!

I didn't say it out loud: I just typed it  and in English too which is not my native tongue. So no problems there..

Love the ex-gf reference too

I stand entirely corrected. Although the car didn't break down it did sprung a small leak in the radiator hosing. I could have driven home with it, but I got scared and needed to change one of the hoses. It took a little more time than expected thinking I am a bad mechanic, but then I found this:

dmctalk wrote:I had a problem with that one too. I split the hose with a knife to get it off. It was a bear to get the replacement on as well.

http://www.dmctalk.com/showpost.php?p=2 ... stcount=13

A MASSIVE thanks to Tyson for providing the spare hose, and also to the people helping me out with a jack (Rob Huizinga), socket sets (again Rob H), Jubilee screwdriver (Nico) cardboard (??), smokes (Wouter), water, moral (All) and physical support (Nico), bleeding (Ed) and confidence that enabled me to replace two radiator hoses in 1h30.

A big apology to everyone that was waiting on me to finally go to lunch.

Reaping!

Well the oil leak near the valve cover seems kinda sorted (fuck it), but the good news is:

I passed MOT!

Since 30 october 2009 I've driving 2047 miles. I consider that a good season, concidering i've been on the shoulder only once for lack of fuel.
