OK Panic stations

A friend organised a cancellation appointment for MOT for me tomorrow morning. Eeeekkk!!!!

At the minute
- No gears, hopefully resolved by vacuum hose and oil level as fuse is ok.
- Emissions, car is leaned off so hopefully will do
- Headlights, nowhere available before 8:30 in morning for alignment check at the minute. My MOT is at 08:45. Also I read that the inner bulbs must be a different colour to the outers if there is a 4 light set up???
- Washer motor needs fitted.

Tonight is either going to be a long night or a disaster. Tried getting out of work early but no chance. Will be home to start work around 5. Here's hoping I at least make the test centre and have something to aim for!!!

If this is the case then it will default to 3rd gear (no solenoids active)
The car will stall when trying to move with the gearbox in this position.

Yes the vac pipe needs to be connected as this adjusts the oil pressure inside the gearbox.
Rule of thumb for oil level, with engine cold, fill to the point where the flat bit of the dipstick goes to the coiled part. Disregard the level indicators. This is how I do it on mine.

It's fuse 13, btw

Great job Matt, also.

Oh yes, the second column of fuses, not the first ! Cheers

Fingers crossed for you Mat !

Don't bother about alignment, just use tape measure/ string underneath the car to measure difference between the front rims at the front of the rm and the rear of the rim, the difference being toe in or out...
Not sure about the inner bulbs being a different colour.....unless it is a NIreland thing..

Good luck with it !!!

They are very strict on this front, you will need to try and get them aligned.

The different colour of bulbs thing sounds like nonsense.

Sump off the gearbox and no debris. The gearbox is clicking as the changes are made but even with the car jacked up the engine is not turning the wheels.

Torque converter??

Fluid OK. Idling and in the warm region. I don't understand, I have no gears at all but the gearbox is lifting the oil ok??? It is like it isn't connected to the engine at all. No matter what gear it is in there is nothing. It starts in Park and Neutral, doesn't start in others, reverse lights are on in reverse but no movement. All I did was drive to end of driveway and reverse back up and nothing since.

Sounds like gearbox has failed mate...unless the shaft has come adrift...but it can't move.
