At least nothing else broke!

That another way of looking at it yes. The good thing about this forum is that people also post when thing do not go boom. I think of other forums where all you read is "I have a problem with..." / "Engine stalls" / "Rough idle" / "I just bought a DeLorean where can I buy plutonium?" etc.

Very valid point Rob, which I hadn't thought about before!

Will you be coming to EuroTec? I won't be attending Eurofest unfortunately.

What a great day I had!

I woke up at about 9am with a massive headache and continuous sneezing, thank got that cleared up after a good breakfast at around 11am. It was raining like cats and dogs so after doing some video montage work it soon because 15:00.

Anyway i had to visit a good friend of mine as it was his birthday, and after looking at the weather report I decided to take the D. It was looking good. Well the reports were wrong and I hit a massive shower halfway at around 16:00 on the highway. I slowed down to 80 kph because of possible aquaplaning. I was heading south towards the sun leaving the weather behind me and soon after the roads were dry and the sun was out. People started to notice my weather-beaten DeLorean and soon thumbs were going up and smile poured out of people cars! The visit was really cool, the lady even asked me to take her for a spin on the highway, and before I knew it I had to return home. The return trip was even better as the sun was setting and giving it a cool reddish colour to the car even more drivers slowed down when passing my 'silver shadow'. Well you know the drill. Total distance today: 183.

Bottom line: this trip was the final shakedown before EuroTec, and she ran like a dream. No overheats, no rain leakage, no coolant dumps, no battery power crap, nothing broke, nothing fell off and nobody got hurt in the process. Put a lot of smiles on peoples faces (including mine).

TODO: wheel alignment, A/C refill, new windscreen (as ever).

First, the big news: I finally paid off my DeLorean!

Secondly, as part of this blog and for completion, two major things were fixed on my car at the Eurotec 2011 event. Part 1: The cold start was causes by a vacuum line incorrectly connected to a breather valve, Part 2: Backfires caused by a bad injector on the #4 cylinder.

Today I ripped out the remote locking module from my car. It's one of those 'I don't know what it is any why it even works' kind-of unmarked black box of mayhem. I ripped it out because it was annoying, pulled power, didn't work properly, got me locked in the car, and i've had it disconnected for about 2 years now. I pulled it apart to see if there was some kind of brand stamped on the board, nothing visible on the outside except a serial number.

Put it back to stock, much easier to diagnose and repair :D

For now, i go with 'NONE'. Even easier to diagnose!

Who needs central locking on 2 doors anyways.. But seriously, i will investigate more options. This remote lock is wired into the hazard lights, so when you lock the lights flash 3 times, and when you unlock it flashes once. It's all done properly, even with new actuators and stuff (old soleniods removed) but it sometimes 'sticks' and drains the battery like the original did.
