I thought the bulb in my hazard switch was gone, so I pulled the handle only to see a working light. It was covered by a small blue bit of opaque plastic (non-transparent), no wonder it was always dark.

The plastic bit looks to be original because it fits perfectly in the recess of the switch. These cars never stop to amaze me.

Another great weekend, did some 400 miles with the D.

As some of you may have read, the stability of the front end is beginning to annoy me. With fast driving or hard braking the tracking seems wrong and scary, while cornering is still sharp and amazing. I suspect bad tracking in combination with a slightly worn lower ball joint and 30 year old LCA bushings is beginning to show.

So I've ordered new ball joints and Ed's LCA supports to be installed somewhere coming weeks. Also I am thinking of replacing the regular LCA bushings as well.

Yes I have. For about 2 years now, and they were a massive improvement already.

Lower balljoint play (<1mm) is playing up I guess.

I am seriously exited on the effect this will have in combination with the ball joints and the LCA braces.

Once you have got all that done, don't forget to get the geometry done afterwards paying particular attention to getting the rear thrust angle to close to zero as you can get. Don't be fobbed off with just having the front set to the rears as although this will set parallel thrust angles the car will handle poorly especially when going over bumps.

Data is 3mm toe-in PER wheel with the front right height set with the chassis 145mm from the floor.

(geometry - as in wheel alignment, tracking etc)

Thanks for the heads up, I knew that already.

I hope to do that, but it will have to become a winter project.

I've talked to many people and they all suggested to wait until winter, get the LCA's out, clean, box, powdercoat, replace bushings, install new ball joints, reinstall, add support brackets, align, and not bother with it for at least 5 years. Somewhat different to my plan to just replace the lower joints and adding the braces.

I could install the ball joints now, but that would require me to get them out again in winter.
