Yesterday evening i managed to fix the biggest damage to my EL display. I'll see how long it survives now. If it goes once more i'll rip it out. At least now I know I have a backup speedometer. If you have the feeling that the photos are upside-down, that is correct because the binnacle was lying upside down on the table. I just pre-rotated the pictures for your reading pleasure.

Side note: My fuel sender would always indicate 1/4 too high, I managed to fix that by rotating the needle once manually. So finally I have 'accurate' fuel level. Oh and the fuel level warning light works again as well.

Delamination damage clearly visible by day from this angle, Flash only makes it worse.

Although in the dark it ain't so bad:

Tomorrow I will solder the last contacts so I can reassemble the binnacle back in the car. I'll try to make some pictures to show the end result.

I am impressed you did not create a ALL NEW DIGITAL binnacle for your D.
The Deloclock of yours was quite a success:)

The thought has crossed my mind, but the D is not the car for such heavy modification.

It is quite the list. And the engine issues aren't even on it. Misfires, fuel filter, etc. It's enough though.
