Interesting stuff Alistair...

Has Barrie actually changed his story or just not mentioned the abandoned factory space and people have assumed it must have been Dunmurry?

As far as I know the factory was located here...

It has changed quite a bit in recent years but Northern Carriers site was nearby.

Barrie was ADAMANT that the cars where not built in the DMCL Dunmurray factory, in fact he argued this point with a senior DOC member who owned one of the very RHD's in question.

Well, you might remember that back in the 80s, many buildings in Belfast were under A-Tack......

boom-boom, sorry, couldn't resist.

Fascinating info from Martin, though.

The site around sinclair road, stormont road and McCAUGHY ROAD. which is a coal storage yard today.(picture below)
was The Delorean compound at the docks.
I do not know if Northern Ireland Carriers had a site down at the docks. But the one I know of is the head office, which the transport drivers worked from, was on the Grosvenor road beside the westlink roundabout, which now is a flyover over the westlink.

The Building on the left at the roundabout at the top of Duncrue street is called BELFAST COLD STORES. This is where a car was tested to see how the Stainless steel would cope in very cold conditions. I remember going down with van driver one day to collect the tests and seeing the car there. The car was was covered in Ice, just like in the movie when the car came back from the future the first time. I just thought I would share that with you all.
