I'd thought I'd track any major work or events concerning ol' 3078 here as you guys already seem to do with your own
I shall begin with my personal history of the DeLorean as a whole and 3078 herself:
When I was around 7-8 years old, my Dad was having paint issues with his car. Wondering why paint was so much hassle, I asked him why cars had paint, and if there was ever a car without any. He of course replied with the DeLorean and its stainless panels, along with the controversy around its collapse. Satisfied with the answer, I thought nothing more of it...
...then, whilst driving in central London when I was around 12, we saw one (I think even a RHD) and it made our day
Once again the car was pushed back into my memory...until I saw a DeLorean on the telly late last year (I think it was on the US show Pawn Stars) and all the wonder and intrigue about the car I had years ago came rushing back and I began to read up about its history as well as any info I could get.
I slowly but surely managed to get my father enthusiastic about the car, and we eventually managed to purchase VIN 3078 in June
As for 3078, it appears the fellow we bought it off liked to keep her as original as possible, even if that meant not replacing parts that had long been "past it", such as the seats. Thankfully, this only stretched to aesthetics, however the engine is a whole 'nother story. The previous owner was obviously not a fan of its MPG and decided to remove the AC unit and fit a "Fuel Cat" fuel saving system which is starving the poor girl of her maximum power. Not being tuned doesnt help, but she plods along well enough.
Body work-wise however, she's pretty sound, apart from an odd dent in the driver door top and a very small crack in the roof. Shiny Sinks made her look her best
At this moment in time, she is in the very competent hands of the revered Chris N, to get her healthy, prim and proper.
