Some of you may have seen this on the Irish forum, but thought I would post it here for those who haven't:
Here's a few pics of Mervyn's car when he picked it up yesterday. We carried out a full restoration on it including stainless roof support structure, full interior retrim and redye, with new carpets, seats, headliner along with a fibreglass binnacle which we made.
It was also treated to one of Mervyn's new stainless chassis, definately the first car in Ireland to have a stainless chassis, maybe Europe??
All suspension components were sandblasted and painted with most joints replaced. Steering rack was rebuilt too, followed by 4 wheel alignment.
Engine top half was torn down too to deal with some issues, new seals fitted everywhere along with new clutch, spigot bearing, main oil seal etc.
New bumpers were fitted along with new lights all round after the headlight buckets and brackets were sandblasted and powdercoated.
Most fittings on the car were replaced with new stainless ones or zinc plated where more appropriate.
A full overhaul of the brake system was also carried out with new copper lines at the front and rebuilt calipers along with a new master cylinder.
This is only a very brief description of the work carried out, there is far too much to list. Although a kinda backwards way to do it, I will add some pics of the restoration process over the coming days/weeks.
In the meantime, enjoy!
