Hi Alexakos, rebuilds are the only way! Forget the rest ;) a long way to go as you will know, just had a quick look at your thread good luck with the restoration!

Hi Nick, fingers crossed theres a good set in there, it would make life simpler for me! Lets hope they do the trick and 1780 can run on its own.... To hear that engine go was brilliant on Saturday.

Hi Jerzy, the injectors are out with the hope I can get a set of refurbed ones from Nick via Shane, then see what happens when they are put back in. Next on list is to figure out what the high pitch squeal is/was, once thats sorted its a quick test up and down my mums street :p

After the engine its the brake system next, it needs a complete refurb, then see what the crusty bits on the suspension are like...I would like that stuff powdercoated before MOT etc

Well Vin 1780 finally arrived at my house, 6 months after purchasing the car. Between being stored at my mechanics for the first couple of months and my parents for the last 4 months it never really felt like the car was mine. In that time the back of my house transformed dramatically...

Last night the work to get 1780 back on the road began. Thomas kindly popped around and give me a hand getting the car up on the axel stands...and we set about getting the fuel tank out, the whole process took a couple of hours as the tank was well wedged in and didnt come out too easily.

My homework for this week is to get the tank cleaned out, and take a wire brush to the rusty/flaky bits of the chasis and try dismantle the brakes...never done any thing mechanically before so its all a bit daunting but with Thomas' help guidance and advice (and all you guys here) I will get there :)

Really pleased with the garage, lots of room to work at the car Jerzy. The Electrics went in just before Christmas then the car came down the 2nd Sat in January.

Looking forward to seeing progress myself, as i see the bank account progress down hill :p

Thanks Ollie :)

The fuel system needs a complete overhaul, got parts from Jason on here around October time - Metering Head, Plenum Chamber, Distributer. Ive new stainless steel fuel lines to be fitted along with fuel/airfilters. The fuel injectors were knackered so might have a set coming soon and I have a brand new water pump to fit.

Ordered track rod ends, ball joints and stainless steel brake lines today. The brake system needs a complete over haul so calipers need stripped and rebuilt possibly get away with skimming he brake discs...

Big fear is the autobox! Just hope and pray its all working who knows what gremlins await 1780.
