Had a weekend working on the delorean.
New fuel tank installed but fed the return line into a container to flush the fuel system through. Ran the pump and nothing came out of the return line.... Then I heard a trickling sound, looked underneath to find fuel pouring out of the accumulator area!
Turned out the flexi hose had rotted out and just fell apart in my hand. Renewed the hose with some new injection pipe.
Tried the pump again and got a load of gloop out of the return line
ran it until clear fuel was coming out and then connected it back to the tank. Then I went to the back and found the metering flap was floppy.... no pressure!
Took off the metering head and found the plunger was seized solid
soaked in acetone and managed to pull the plunger out eventually. Cleaned it all up until the plunger was free and reassembled it. Ran the pump again and pressure at the metering head
..... but now fuel pissing out of the line to the frequency valve
Renewed the hose to the frequency valve, no leaks now! Tested the injectors in a jar, all good!
After a lot of cranking of the engine it spluttered into life, seems to run well and smooth, but couldn't run for long as currently have no coolant in it.
Now in the process of changing all the coolant pipes from the rad all the way back to the engine then will be able to run it for longer
Also changed the brake master cylinder and stripped and painted the brake servo, and fitted a new electric antenna.
