I disconnected my CSV recently while doing some testing on another issue - It made the car a right bollocks to start from cold. I didnt realise how much it actually helped to get the engine going. Is yours firing?

The cold start valve should only fire when the engine is cold, the thermotime switch in the top of the water pump handles that. If it fires when warm that can flood the engine or hide a hot start/rest pressure issue.
There is a loose relay socket in the fuse compartment which was used as on other car variants as a hot start relay and have seen D's with a jumper lead in to make the cold start valve fire constantly on turn over often causing the engine to flood by again appears to "fix" hot start issues!

I do remember our very own Mr Monk designed a circuit to pulse his cold start value when ever the starter was firing.

I would start with checking rest pressure Dan, have got a k-jet fuel pressure gauge somewhere if you need to borrow?
As the primary fuel pressure regulator in the fuel dizzy can also cause similar issues too.

I have only few set of shims courtesy of the very helpful Shane in Ireland. I did promise him that if any were used then the cost of getting them made go to him. €5 each I think.

I'll be bringing my fuel pressure gauge in Oct so you're welcome to use that.

Had a play tonight and found the cold start valve is not working. Tested it by putting 12V on it and it works fine.

Linked out the connector to the thermo time switch and it still doesn't work so will need to do some more digging with the wiring diagram another day.

You'll only get 12v there when the engine is being cranked by the starter motor.
