Vin 2490 South Africa

Postby A Van » Mon Sep 08, 2014 12:30 pm

This car is one of only 2-3 in South Africa.

Its owned by a stainless steel product manufacturer, and was on display at one stage in their showroom

http://www.columbusstainless.co.za/about.html

Unsure which route it took to get to South Africa, doesn't appear on the usual lists in the USA.

Thanks to Lionel for perseverance to gain access to the car and take some pictures!

All those detail shots and no overall car picture? I'm being too picky, I know.

02490 is on Knuts 2006 Vinlist listed as being in SA, so obviously there before then

My god!!! Am I jealous of that frames condition! Not a single rust spot. Amazing. Very dusty though.

Apparently this d is polished but not visible on these photos because of the dust.

By Bob, apparently.

from their website

“Welcome to the world of BOBFAB, with the full range of stainless steel polishing facilities...”

which makes me very intrigued as to what it would look like in person. The one picture above looks so glossy that it could be painted.

On my line of work we sometimes get the inside of silos lined with SS and polished (so certain materials don't stick to the sides, so it is very smooth), but I'd never really though about what they would do to a D, mainly because I like the look of the grain.

As also mentioned on the sticker of the rear right fender :)

Image

The shine looks pretty well made as the fender reflects equally good as the quarter glass
