(repost, because last time i got connection errors)

Upper ball joint is finally loose. I used the dremel grinder to get it of because I completely wrecked it using the wrong spanner (slap on the wrist, Rob). Just ordered 4 new castle nuts from Ed.

All parts are properly degreased (except the ball joint themselves) so I can start sanding everything for a proper paint job.

I was undecided on whether or not to disassemble the lower arms, but then i would need to remove everything: Shocks, Stabiliser and Springs. Too many solid bolts to undo. It may cause more damage than is necessary. I'll paint everything in place.

Paint is almost dry and ready for inspection! Sorry about the poor quality of the pictures. I had to use a flash. In real life it looks much better. I'll put up some new pictures in daylight tomorrow to show the result.

Looking good Rob!

Are you replacing your anti roll bar bushings at the same time ?

Nope. No other bushings are being replaced. I'll keep that job for the winter. MOT has priority now, and since i know what needs to be fixed for that, i'm putting the rest on hold.

Just popped in to say that the front suspension is reassembled. No pictures, no details.

The only problem I had was the the upper balljoint kept spinning while fastening the castle nut. Greased the nut, and put some friction on the hub; that finally did the trick.

I put the wheels back on and remove the jackstands. The car is finally back on all fours!

And the rear facia can be removed within an hour, although the workshop manual says nothing about disconnecting any wiring! PS you can really see one of the mufflers very well now

Another day of hard labour completed.

- Replaced right side valve cover gasket
- Inspected and cleaned all the spark plugs. Found out that one of the spark leads was not sitting properly in the socket
- Cleaned a good bit of the engine in the hope that the oil leak in the valve cover is fixed now.
- Cleaned/inspected engine bay wiring
- Touched up minor paint damage on the engine cover
- Installed backup warning system in rear facia (yes I drilled holes - forgot to take pictures of the holes unfortunately)
- Reattached rear facia

Tomorrow I plan to finish the wiring and screw the lights back in.

You could do with a set of stainless steel bumper letters for your car Rob ;)
