If you have, If you can take it to a garage with an exhaust gas tester, adjust the fuel mixture to 1.0 to1.5% co (carbon monoxide) and check that the hydrocarbons (hc) is less than approx 500ppm. If it is more then suspect another injector. Ideally it should be less than 200ppm.

Catalytic converter is out indeed. Do these exhaust values apply to the engine with the cat removed? (it isn't clear to me). I remember Ed suggesting to run it a little richer so it runs well on the highways (who needs idle anyway!).

But basically the emissions aren't a priority right now, since my MOT is valid unit November 2016. I just want the car to run smooth and stable.

PS. Funny how my spell-checker suggested to use "Catholic Converter". I'm not a religious person.

To clarify Rob, the values I put in my previous post is for a car with the catalytic converter removed.

The values are used for 'setting' the fuel mixture for your car by analysing the emissions.

Does this help make it clear?

I still can't believe that i had to leave my car at home because of a silly spark plug, the car may have tried to protect me from taking on too much too early?

I am such a lucky fucker.

While removing the right hand side spark plugs the ceramic broke, thanks to my EL-Cheapo spark plug socket extension. Fucktards. I had to pick out the pieces on at a time with a greased screwdriver before I even dared getting out the rest of the plug (still screwed in for heavens sake). I could have easily missed that, ending up with a cylinder filled with spark plug fragments. Crisis avoided.

Now the good news:

left hand side (right hand exhaust, because I have unconnected headers crossing over) still sounds like a tractor and there's a unhealthy amount of exhaust coming out but at least she runs a lot better than before! And this is just with the new spark plugs...

To be continued, I need food now.

Today's insignificant modification: I recrimped the pins to the thermo time switch connector. Bloody thing kept falling off at the slightest touch, but with my newly developed skill to remove a pin from the housing without breaking it I can now safely say this issue is fixed. Oh and I took the opportunity to fit the connector sleeve which had been on my workbench for about 3 years.

Every little step forward is a step forward.
