SPL or Surface Processing in Dudley. They have a partner they use for welding, so the steps were/are:

1. Off to SPL for acid dipping
2. Off to Mobile Welding Services for a few holes to be filled
3. Back to SPL for acid clean (from the welding)
4. E-Coating at SPL
5. Return home (Mobile welding do that)

I can detail the costs; they will differ depending on the work done, but my frame was actually very good, so the welding part was minor.

That looks mint Dan, are you planning to get the frame powder coated?

Hi Mike. No, no powder coating here - I'll be painting it grey though for another level of protection. I'm over £3k in and whilst it's done properly, that's enough money on the chassis for now (I have SO much more to buy!) ;)

Hi all; long time, no update..

10 weeks ago my wife and I welcomed our first daughter (and only, I might add). With the run up to that being costly, and my wife being off work, I had to reallocate funds from the car, to food/mortgage/electricity. Such is life!

In any case, work stalled as it was (literally) the bottom of the priority pile. It still is, unsurprisingly.

That said, it hasn't been entirely stalled.

Firstly, I've been collating parts and working out what I can use. Or not. I'm still unconvinced the engine is worth saving, but for now it's in storage whilst I work out what to do with it.
I bought various running parts; brakes, suspension, etc - but some of that will be returned or sold off as I intend to uprate them.
The frame has been painted as well. It was already e-coated, as you know, but I've added a couple of coats of rustoleum. I did a fair bit of research and the colour is pretty close (or as close as paint can be to 40 year old epoxy).

Here are a couple of pictures:

They look a little blue in pictures, but not in person (the final pic is closer and far more grey).

And the engine, awaiting a fate or three:

At the moment I'm researching ideas; the car, given her state, is a blank canvas and much of what I could fit, I don't want to - age and general fatigue put me off. So, well... more on that when I'm sure of my path.

Long story, but:

Delorean HOME! by Dan Willis, on Flickr

She's mechanically done, cosmetically done and MOT'd. I believe I have a long wait for a number plate once I have every form complete, and ready to courier, but come the Spring, I'll have a driveable car.

I need to explain the journey, but it'll have to wait until I have a bit more time

Yes, it went from being in bits to a full frame and engine rebuild and then swiftly after I got a slot for cosmetic work and took advantage. It'll never be done, I suspect, but a number plate is but a DVLA backlog away.

Amazing to see it completed, class work!
Any issues with the engine rebuild, no block rot etc?
