My story

Postby Aleksander_5595 » Thu Mar 05, 2015 4:21 pm

So, then it's finally my turn, never thought this day would come!
I'm posting in a D forum as a D owner!
First a short introduction of me.
I'm a 31 year old Norwegian from Oslo. I've grown up with cars and racing instead of football, thanks to my dad and grandpa. (Forever grateful!)
My dad's heart belongs to Alfa Romeo, so that has colored me growing up. I have a weak heart for those Italian cars and design, cars with soul.. a really good excuse for cars that breaks down all the time.
I can't remember the first time a saw a Delorean, but it most certainly was in the bttf movie. I think it was about 20 years ago I started collecting Delorean model cars and the thought that one day, one day I will own one.
Years have past since then, but I never quit dreaming. And last year I realized that the time had come. I started looking online for the right D. I bought "the illustrated buyer's guide to delorean automobiles", read it, looked some more and made some calls.
I decided to make a visit to Toby at DMCNW with plane tickets home from LA so I could stop by DMC California if I didn't find what I was looking for up north. I brought my dad along and made it a father son road trip of the great US of A.
Toby is a great guy and used a lot of his time showing us around and answering all kind of question I had. He had a car that was in the ballpark of what I was looking for and we made a deal for minor work I wanted done to it.
The work on the D took a couple of months, and the shipping company had some hiccups that have delayed it even more. But next week I will pickup my D, and every single second waiting will be forgotten!

If anybody know anything about the history of 5595 pls let me know

Here's some pictures:

welcome to the forum!!! You said that your dad's heart belongs to Alfa Romeo, does that mean he's disowned you now???

What a warm welcome, thanks everybody!
No, he hasn't disowned me. In fact after the trip over the seas and seeing a Delorean for the first time him self, he was very positive and liked it.

It was an amazing trip. We had a couple of days in Seattle, talking with Toby and looking around. Then we drove all the way down to LA, stopping along the road and soaking in the American culture. Went up to see Mount st. Helen, intresting driving a camaro rental with summer tyres up to a volcano with snow.
