Just thought it was about time we gave a bit of an update on the car the me and my Brother, Barry are currently restoring.
It is an '81 Grey interior auto transmission which we imported from the USA earlier this year as a non-runner, it is our second project car.
The first thing that we done when it arrived was to get the engine and transmission running just to make sure it wasn't a complete basket case, thankfully all seems ok.
The body is in good condition as is the interior but there is quite a bit of mechanical work that we have to do, namely;
Engine service including valve clearances
Strip down to VOD
Water pump overhaul
replace cooling hoses throughout
replace radiator
complete brake overhaul all round
suspension overhaul all round
Clean out fuel tank
Clean out fuel system and repair as required
Renew fuel pump, boot and cover
renew fuel filters, oil filter, air filter
UK foglight upgrade
UK Headlight conversion
Refurbish wheels
Renew tyres
New gas struts all round
New TAB's
New speedo drive
New steering gaiters
New handbrake cable
New engine mounts
Fit Decat pipe
New fuel tank closing plate
Respray front and rear fascias
Repair various electrical faults (all probably rodent related judging by photos below)
I am sure that there are things that I have forgotten to list but no doubt Barry will add them once he sees this post.
One thing that we have found very handy is the drip tray that can be seen under the car on the ramp in one of the photos, it is as if it was made for a DeLorean as it just clears the chassis and just fits between the rear wheels.
It is ideal for catching all of the grime and dirty cleaning fluid when cleaning out the engine bay.
