And yesterday, I obtained what I hope ill be my last ever MOT for 814!

No advisories !!

(Also no skooshers, handbrake to speak of, or front numberplate, but I feel its very important to have a "sympathetic" tester ahead of its official historic status.... :D )

But I will have to sort all of the above. And investigate a new graunching/ squeak from the front suspension. MOT or otherwise, they are still rubbish!

24 months, tops. :)

29 months Mike... But arguably, it could have failed 5 months ago!!! A more sensible solution to a washbottle pump may be on my list... Have looked at this before but concluded the easiest was just a new motor. I now have the hateful job of going into the wash bottle cubby hole in front of the front wheel....

Freed of the washer motor after the hateful foray under the wheelarch. May get a year or so!

Also silicone grease on all 4 corners' rubber components to stop it squeaking like a Victorian pram.

POS....

And of course a few months later the wash bottle motor fails again.

I am too fucked off with going in to the bottle under the wheel arch, so I have come up with a better solution. "Better" in that I can change the motor easier...

I have blanked off the old motor, leaving it in place to seal, but got a new cap (ahem! jar lid!) and drilled it to accept a grommet and pipe. Tnen a little filter on the bottom, and fed this thru a hole in the brake master bung.

Then under the tub, and up into the cavity under the filler cap. To a new in line motor. The wiring picks up from the old wash bottle motor.. Then up through a new bung (no Dunmurry parts were harmed in this fully reversible mod, Mike) and under the grill.

I also put in a non-return valve, so it skooshes quicker, if you get me.

Feed it along to the wiper, under the grill. Done.

Simple, effective, probably no more reliable, but cannot be less, and at least I can easy change the motor when it fails.

One less thing to hate my car for. And as long as I keep the bonnet shut, Herr Ward and his band of "Greyshirts" won't be any the wiser!

However, he wont approve of my front plate...

The mount was easy enough to fashion out of a bit of scrap ally

I think I am going to ignore the unsealable rad hose on the washbottle side for now. I am sick of draining and refulling the coolant. I am almost certain the rad is not split, but no amount of new hose, different clamps, tightening etc can get rid of the very slight weep...

Keep an eye on it.....

And continue to think about doing the fusebox....

Cheers for now.

Good work Andy,
i've just done the fuse box and it is a complete bastard of a job! mostly because the new box is very poorly made and requires you to debur each slot to remove the fuzz and crap left in them to make sure the clips fit, most of them don't!
and as per instructions you do need to remove the seat if you want to use your legs after

Yep, just the reasons I've been putting it off, since buying the fusebox about 6 years ago!!

May well just wait until the shitter goes up in smoke, and just claim the insurance...
