Thanks for the encouragement gents. These threads are quite useful to keep track of what's been done.

Al, I thought of you sweetly as I fitted that hose. Mmmm! Silicone!

Today I chased down coolant leaks and cursed the handbrake pads which broke up. The resultant enormous slack in that cable caused the other to pop off. Fabulous design!

emergency brake as the yanks call it?? I would hate to have to rely on it!

One side fails, and causes the other side to fail too? how quaint!

MOT obtained today! :D Handbrake adjusted as per Darren's post. As recommended, I got circular adhesive sanding disks and stuck one to each face of the rear disks.

viewtopic.php?f=21&t=4125&hilit=handbrake+pads#p54651

I then used this to grind the pads to fit. Didn't take much, but was so successful that it even passed on the rollers. No hookey MOT pranks necessary.

Front headlights needed adjustment, but that is probably after the suspension rebuild. (And it did drop a bit of coolant, due to a hoseclamp needing nipped). But all good!

Alignment tomorrow. 8-)

This kind of makes all the crap worthwhile!

cheers

Soon! A month maybe? As long as no more automotive mishaps or other (ahem!) personal issues get in the way...

So finally, I will get to meet up with some other owners!! It has been a long time coming!

Thanks Al,

Alignment done today at Hypertech Scotland.

I would recommend them to other guys with DeLoreans in central Scotland. They are in Bonnybridge, have the Hunter system, and know their stuff.

Of course the car is transformed. It no longer screeches with the slightest steering input, or skips under braking. I then spent the rest of the day tooling round back roads and enjoying the "public appreciation" in Glasgow! (twat). Fuelling seems good, gearchange & clutch are great, new fans, rad and hoses are doing the trick. Headliners and door trim are refreshed and back in, so I think the car's almost done.

Am back down south (on the train) tomorrow, but of course the symptoms of imminent angle drive failure mean that it will need a bit of investigation before heading off. Typical....!
