I see from Eds site that there is no separate harness for the side markers...

Bet mine has been butchered, necessitating the taps into the running lights...

Right, I see whats been done, and think I know why.

US lights, so no white sidelight. Side markers have been modified to flash, from a feed off the front indicator. The passenger side marker's feed then bridged into the red and blue feed running between the two main beams.

Thus a white "sidelight" (actually just main beam  ) in position 1. Which gets marginally brighter at position 2, from which the hi beam is switched.

Ok, I see a fix

Thanks for input. At the risk of appearing *really* stupid, I was referring (mild vs stainless) to the large car-width bracket to which the "bucket holders" attach.

ie.

Lamp > bucket > "bucket holder" > panel in question.

You can see it in stainless behind my rusty bucket holders in the pic above. I am presuming this is not stainless from Dunmurry. (Tho not imortant really, other than the accuracy of where the mounting holes are drilled)

I would like to see if there is any wiggle-room in where I mount the bucket holders to give a bit more access to the adjustment and mounting screws.

I dont want to remove the fascia (and the bonnet, by necessity) to adjust the beam. So I may play a hairdryer over the very edges to soften them to get screwdriver access.

Check here -->

It is super tight for access ie. None! (And rusty buckets be GONE!!)

I am in the process of mutilating the buckets to get the Hella H4s to fit, with the rubber boot over the back to keep the water out...

Cheers

Good job on cutting the bucket for the hella unit.
Did the same thing last year on my D. I used a angle grinder and the end result was not so good as yours.
Do you use the hella units with the small bulb beside the big one? I had to drill a extra hole in the bucket to feed wire true for the small bulb. Need to have them in Holland for the law. We call them "city lights ".
I also made flashlight out of the front orange running lights, feeding them from the front bumper flashers.

City lights = sidelights on the uk (confusing, as they are actually on the front!).

But yes, the same small white bulb is necessary here. The club has a small flush-fitting sidelight bulb holder, which means I shouldn't have to drill the buckets for this...

So I still had to drill 1 bucket, cos I forgot that sidelights need wires!

And then this morning, woke up early to lie in the snow, for the hateful task of changing the washer pump.

Took it for an MOT, adjusted the beams, and got a year's ticket. Didnt even test the fucking washer! and blinked during the handbrake test

Now, why no heater blower....

Funny how that shit never brakes unless you need it.

No extra drilling required if you bought these http://www.deloreanclub.uk/side-light-bulb-holder.html

For wire run, connector position, and the fact that the headlight assembly has to go in/ be taken out made it easier to just drill a hole on the drivers side bucket.

The lamp holder also benefits from an o ring or 2mm cable tie when used with the Hellas to keep the holder snug in the back of the bowl.

LED sidelights are good tho!

Mildly concerning melted fuse in high beam circuit. Seem to remember this before... Fuse may have been loose tho, but will keep an eye on that. If the same happens i'll have to investigate if it points to the circuit...

(And the blower failure? Yep wiggly fusebox. :| it is time )

Headlights as fitted:

Non identical, don't give a fuck! Its only us anoraks who notice these things!!

So this weekend, the fuel pump finally gave up the ghost. It started getting noisy after about 500 miles, and didn't get any better. However, the gods smile on me, as it finally died having just done a few hundred miles faultlessly to Amsterdam and back. And before that, Belfast, without too much in between.

It stuttered, but in thd space of about 3 miles it wouldn't run at all.

Taking the bull by the horns, I reaffixed the silicone outer door seal with Bond&Seal. It came off in Belfast, having previously used Evostick, which seems ok on the other door.

(Mike, if you look carefully in that pic, your envious, october-car eyes will spot the badge-of-honour, early car production nuance, the "passenger side wash bottle hole". A lotus-derived policy to "add lightness" to the sportier early vins... )

Stripped the rear springs to grease up all rubbers to cure a REALLY fucking annoying squeak, and tightened the screeching fanbelt, as this would probably help too...

I was also pleasantly surprised to see the oil still golden after the run to Ed's and back. A good sign, but fuck all good without a fuel pump.

Into the pump, all looked ok

But I didn't like the look of the R9 hose from AFS. I think substandard hose is a real problem... any else noticed so called ethanol resistant hose looking a bit ropey after a few years?

So, parts ordered, I'll do the pump and in-tank filter next weekend. I think I will replace the soft lines too... suppliers? May use this guy from the Scimitar club, who has a real bee in his bonnet about fuel hose, and reckons this genuine Cohline is best. Will have to check pressure specs...
