I'm sending you a pair of soft lines today too Andy. Gates branded, and properly rated for the higher pressure we need. I have it on a massive roll.

Hi Andy .
I was out the garage tonight - I shouldn't have after having the odd rum or 4!

I was potching about with the buckets and hella replacement units for my piece of crap.

I thought shit , they just won't fit the buckets ! So back indoors ..... missus gone to bed .....and I thought that I would search on the forum to see if anybody else had had the same problem and bugger me it had to be you!

I didn't realise that the sodding bucket needed to be "relieved" to accommodate the "rubber". - after spending time rubbing them down and painting them I'm pissed off! - but , I took solace in reading your thread. :D
I can't make Amsterdam or Norwich meet up up, as my pos has drained my wallet! - I love it really! But I hope to meet up with you and the other guys at a tech day maybe? I'm progressing - slowly!

I should probably have done all 4, but that'll be next time.

My dilemma is that the fascia needs painting, and I may well replace the other 2 before painting it on the car....

1st world problems!! As long as it goes and stops and goes round corners as well asit can, im happy

My facia will need repainting too - and I see what you mean about the headlight adjustment screws!! Now a resolution to that problem will take some innovative thinking !!!

Oh well a night of grinding and filing it is then - not tonight though.

I replaced the fuel pump and lines after the last few posts. All ok i hope?

My top shock washers needed replacing. The original small spax bushes were a bit overworked too.

The new rubbers are much bigger, and the top and bottom washers rather better for the job.

Also fitted the spangly new, probably-not-very-good-but-we-definitely-prefer-it-NLA angle drive.

I do not enjoy working on the front sudpension!! Plenty of red rubber girling grease on the rubber. I also painted the same over the rear rubbers at the top of the springs to stop a super irritating squeak.

Car seems fine... I wonder what will go wrong next? :roll: :D thats the joy of these things!

New exhaust some time soon. There's a little blow on it now which isnt going to fix itself. I note the top bracket is slightly fractured, and the rubbers are all a bit tired, and the heat shield looks like tin foil... :greetings-waveyellow: bye bye money! I didn't like you anyway!!

I think the nut on the stabilizer bar are inverted.
The thin nut is supposed to be the first one at 60Nm and the larger one at 90NM.

I'd have to check, but I seem to remember the instructions from dpnw for the sway bar mounts gave a "US method" (as you describe) and a "euro" or perhaps "uk" method.

Silly names, but previously I have in other applications used the "half nut" or "jam nut" on the outside.

I set it as per their instructions and torque setting, but thanks for the input! What do others do?

Interestingly (or maybe not) I see the plates above my shocks rivetted to the tub are not common. Early tub thing?? The threaded bits of the shocks dont touch the tub, but they are really close!

Cant get the nuts and top rubbers on with the shocks in final position.

Precision engineered huh?!

Pretty sure mine are full nut then half nut.
