Got the stainless bracket from the club and it is on the car now. The old bolts from the rock screen where rusted, to long and hard to get out. The nuts where very rusted but nothing broke and i was able to clean the threads on the rock screen bolts. Painted the rock screen and put everything back together with copper paste and stainless bolts and nuts.
Cleaned the engine bay and removed the stove from the manifold and installed a cold air intake.
Have been away from home so no update on the steering. Only have been home in weekends and then the place is closed to do a alignment.

Front: 61 1/2 cm to top of wheel arch

Took the D for a 100 mile trip yesterday. Runs good. I do keep adding things to the list that I want to take care of this winter. I did a lot of reading on the forum today but I can not find what the distance to the top of the wheel arch would be if you have the front springs from Ed. My car it is 61 1/2 cm. Who has Ed springs and what is the distance? Don't want to buy them and then find out they are also around 61 cm.
Who can indentify my front springs? I have no idea what brand they are and the po also did not know.
Maybe something from PJ Grady, the car has spend a lot of time in that area .
Dutch Rob: I think I have to buy a new coolant bottle before driving to The Hague.
Was near Rotterdam yesterday at it looks like the plastic one is starting to separate at the top!

You are very lucky i decided to read your thread today! Yes the coolant bottle is a big risk. I have replaced mine with a stainless one, but i still have the original one. If you visit me in Rijswijk sometime, i can give you my old one as backup maybe.

If you pm me your email/fb we can stay in touch if you like.

Thanks Rob for the offer. But i am going to buy a stainless one. Like the look of them. Want to put it on this winter when i am going to replace al the rubber connectors in the cooling system.
I will contact you on facebook, hope we can do some tyre kicking and look at our D's sometime.

Got to see the frame number today. Only 2 numbers different then the VIN!
Had a look in the valley. Looking for sorce of high idle when warm problem. Can not find anything wrong. All vacuum hoses are hooked up correct. The springs in the butterfly valves also look in exelent condition. I will replace all vacuum hoses and the o rings and gaskets. Going to put in a new clutch slave, water hoses, water tank, otterstat, spark plugs, rotor and distributeur.
Noticed a lot of black dirt (carbon?) bildup on the intake valves. How is that possible on the intake valve?
I also will check and adjust the valves and replace the cover gaskets.
Any tips would be welcome , maybe i am overlooking something?
