Got the second front caliper done tonight. Smooth sailing. One piston slightly pitted, but above the seal, so I figured it was ok.

Frame looks great thank goodness, I dig working on this car, extremely simple compared to the 928.

Thanks for the link to the new calipers - hope you can find a similar one for the rear!

It's always difficult to diagnose via a photo- but the pitting also looks to be inside the groove for the seal. I'd be wanting to replace that considering the price? ... you know what your doing though and you say that you are happy with it. I've just come in from the garage myself having removed the interior rear quarter panel - speakers are sha66ed, but I thought that they would be!!

The is inside the dust cap, but will not scrub back and forth over the inner seal, since they are above it, even with the piston fully seated.

Anyways, if it turns out to be a problem I'll deal with it then

fair 'nough. I just thought that as you were doing quite a lot of work on VIN 5063, in the scheme of things to replace them now makes sense and you have them apart now ... ...May not be visible like a lot of things I'm doing on vin 11789 but It gives me peace of mind.
Still if it passes your muster - I mean what can happen eh?

I filed the pitting down ever so slightly, so there are no "highs". The inner seal is what holds the pressure in, and that will only see a smooth surface. I agree , replacement is better, especially considering the price, but when a complete caliper sets me back only £44.95 none of this makes any sense really...

My philosophy is to not replace stuff just because it's old. The whole car is old. And also, I've decided to fit all the parts that came with the car before I start buying stuff. Well, that didn't last long, but I'm trying to restrain myself.

Got one rear caliper mostly done today, ready for assembly. One piston took 10bars of compressed air and a few good blows with a hammer to pop. It finally obliged.

When I get the parts from deloreango, I can have the brakes all done next week I guess.

Then suddenly I'm sorta in a hurry to get a parking brake lever. That's missing altogether.

Please shout out if you have a lead to where I can find one.

I wonder what this is. These parts came in a bag together.

The clips hold the air filter housing together.

The 3 screws are called "sems screws" and are used in various places in the car, mainly the interior.

The 2 o rings could be anything, but are probably the 2 used on the W pipe, taking a guess.

The 3 washers are just normal spring washers - used in various places in the car.


The parts are not related to each other.
