Got to finally take off the windscreen washer fluid cover and after putting up a big fight with more spinning rivnuts - have I mentioned them already! .
Very hard to access the bolts on one side cause of the weird shape of the resovier cover and the body as it slopes over it. Even with a dremel it was tough to access it properly, but patience it finally gave way..

Now I know why I have a modified aftermarket washer pump the original one must have given up as one of the power wires was disconnected from the 2 pin plug - that's a 17 year wonderment solved :D
I'll test the motor and see if it ll come back to life

Gave the washer cover a good clean out, came up pretty well I thought.
Might be an idea to make the bottom drain holes a little bigger to help with drainage and stop them clogging - maybe :?

Was on a bit of cleaning spree after that so next up was the gearbox. Complete New clutch and fix the leaky driveshaft seal is definitely needed here as a minimum that's for sure.

I painted this years ago myself with a rattle can and I made an absolute pants job of it . Lesson learned there, I should have left it as it was ..

It's been a while hamburg trip, work etc and the months fly by... Anyways got the gearbox back after a complete strip down, rebuild and overhaul of seals and gaskets etc. Nothing major at fault internally: diff, gear synchros etc all good thankfully. Just a new set of seals, gaskets, half bushings and all roll pins reinforced. The second gear one wasn't even there anymore nothing left of it
Happy with the end result and a major tick done on one side of the engine equation anyways

Next up will probably be the cv joints amongst others, never done them before so 'fun, messy' Lesson I expect lol!
