jerzybondov wrote:Mec, this is indeed totally epic!! Awesome getting all that done in 2 days. How long did it take to build the DeLorean Lifting System (TM)?

Dan - how did you lift your body up when you did yours on your drive? I just remember you replacing the chassis with bricks but not actually how you got the body off...

Id say the lifting system took a total of about 8-10 hours split over a couple of weeks, working out how it was going to work on the 1st one as i made it took the time, when i had worked out how i wanted it the 2nd one took a couple of hours to cut and assemble

Chris Hawes wrote:Awesome progress, you're in good hands with the talented Alex!

So what's the plan after the dipping and welding?
Galvanising so that it can get into all the boxed off areas?

Yes that's the plan Chris, Galvanizing and powder coating, not sure what colour yet ;)

Nice one Mec

Thanks for uploading all the pics - I know it takes time but it’s good for everyone to see.

I wonder if it’s worth just grafting a new front end on? And seeing what’s left on the rest?

mec wrote:Thanks Guys, its a very daunting thing to do but it has to be done, Alex's help yesterday was invaluable as he's already done 2 !

So then onto today (Sunday), another full day in the garage (on my own this time) and progress carried on at a fair pace...

This black area at the front i think is infact one massive plate that been welded on ...

So there you have it, my delorean stripped to a bare chassis in 2 days... looks like that was the easy bit !
Lets hope the genius welding of Mr Alex Denny can save my car, 1st though is a phone call in the morning to get the chassis booked in for dipping to strip all the rubbish off and see whats left !!

I know it’s more money Mec , but looking at that I wouldn’t even bother getting it blasted - I would put the money towards a new chassis !

Just. wow!

Impressive speed!

Amazing to get to see your car up so close and personal i'm sure. Always fascinating getting to see in detail that which is normally shrouded in darkness or obscured completely.

Frightening and daunting at the same time.

Keep up the good work! I can't wait to see the continued progress!

thanks Rissy

Right I'm picking up the official Delorean Eurotec Chassis Transport Vehicle (Dan's Stacey's Trailer) on Friday and the chassis will be dropped off at the dippers on Monday morning using the official 2011 Silvercoast chaved banana (puma), they estimate a 2 week or less turn around so fingers crossed there's something left to work with !
