Great Scott!

When was the car last run? Are you going to have to refresh the whole fuel system or are you just flushing the tank?

Its been great fun so far and i havent turned the key yet. Cant wait to fire her up.

Im awaiting a new fuel pump as the one that was in there was incorrect and under powered. I get the impression the previous owner did the very bear minimum to get the car running to maximise the sale price.

I've syphoned the tank even though i dont think it needed it as the fuel didnt smell off. But i wanna be safe than sorry. I have no idea when the car was last run.

I was advised by aaran that the hoses werent really safe and shouldnt be used in the tank.

Yeah the feed and return hoses above the tank look pretty ropey, and you certainly should never use a jubilee clip on the high pressure line - ever. And the "in-tank" hose, or what's left of it is very very wrong, might as well use garden hose.

Agreed!

Make sure the external high pressure line is correctly rated too. Much cheaper in the long run than a firey project. Am sure arran will assist!

That hose coming out the bottom of the pump has purposely been sliced too so that it opens up slightly like a mouth. As i said, i get the impression the very bear minimum was done to get the car running for sale or the car was last owned by scrooge. It must be scrooge cos who in their right mind paints in the delorean letters on the rear bumper?

Which reminds me... anyone know how i can remove this paint without damaging the fascia paint underneath? I have to get the facias repainted at some point but it will be quite a while before i do that. Its just nasty and tacky and i want it undone. Could i just use some paint thinner or is there something else?

The black bit of the fascia was originally bare polyurethane, but many were painted subsequently.

I think thinners would take all paint off, so its probably a case of "suck it and see".

Or ignore it for now, till you get it running?

As Andy said, the black portion was never painted originally. You can bring back the finish with fine grade sandpaper.

^^ best advice right there, leave the cosmetics for now, focus on getting it mechanically sound first.
