Thanks. Its been an experience.

Yesterday saw the installation of new spark plugs, HT leads, rotar, cap and cap clips. That cap aint moving anytime soon and the same for those HT leads.

Those spark plugs have seen better days and on one of them are the innards of an HT lead

For some reason the PO had done this to the lead going to the starter coil. I dont understand why it had to be earthed as the braid is nothing more than a heat shield if anything. It serves no purpose that i can think of. Answers on a postcard to the address shown at the end of the show...

I spent a little more time cleaning whilst jiving to some classic tunes havin it large. The paint arrived this morning so will finish up the cleaning (tiny amounts left now and its not easy getting into some of them nooks) and start applying the paint. It says for professional use so i may need to take a course maybe

I will be changing some of the VAC lines either today or tomorrow also.

I ordered a new water pump and im hoping it will turn up tomorrow and then I can start putting it all back together. Hopefully, i have everything so i can do just that but knowing me, there will be something ive missed.

And so the first coat has been applied using POR15 aluminium.

Now for the VAC lines whilst it dries.

Thanks guys. Its been a good little educational experience.

I also gave my coolant bottle a clean inside and out so that looks better now.

The new water pump arrived today so i will be putting that together ready to go back in the car tomorrow. I'll be getting my original overhauled so I have that as a spare.

A very eventful day today. I actually did far more than i was expecting.

All the VAC lines were changed. The water pump was all put together complete with silicone hoses. In that went. Y and heater pipe in... check. Air intake went in too and Im surprised to say the pipe of agony for me was the pipe of ease. It went in lovely. I did use a little bit of grease to be fair.

This was as far as i was expecting to get today, but no, i soldiered on. Fuel mixture unit and throttle setup went back. I connected up all the fuel lines and earlier whilst i was waiting for the water pump gasket to arrive, i changed the remaining 2 fuel lines (3 if you count the FV as 2). Any grounds i found were cleaned up also.

So now everything is back together. Im awaiting the coolant and dionised water to arrive tomorrow so i can refill the system and bleed. Then a final check and i should be able to fire the car up. I will take it for a test drive and then i can do an oil/filter change to finish off this journey.

I think ive definitely earned a few beers tonight
