Certainly an interesting one......It doesn't look too bad but so many things have rust which wouldn't usually have so much rust. The Chassis doesn't look too bad at all.

It really is as if its been wet and not dried out and flash rust has touched many elements.

Wasn't there something odd with the speedo ? last few digits unreadable, I initially thought there may be water damage in there ?

Must admit it is all over the place in terms of what has gone rusty. Took the brake cover off (drilled out) and you can see everything has rust except the chassis which appears ok.

The odometer was faded and the interior was leaking. Just been to have another look but the drivers door has now decided it does not want to open!
Hard to tell anything from the keys as not much feeling turning left or right.

Any advice above pushing down on the flat just before the glass and keeping trying (not had any power on the car yet and it was opening) although I had closed it a little firmer to stop the leak through the top.

Water dropping onto the shift panel. Been trying the drivers door by key and internally. No joy yet.

You will need to pull the door card off (which is the top panel) to gain access to rods. These videos should help. You wont be able to remove the lower panel till the door is open, but you should be able to manipulate the locks from just the top anyway.

I would also advise getting a car cover asap since we are now moving into the wet season

Thank you for the links, I will have a go tomorrow, I haven’t tried the windows yet so may need some tool to remove the top fur tree’s to get the panel off.

I have just got a cover which I will put on at the weekend. I am just trying to formulate a plan of attack At the moment hence it is still uncovered. A lot will depend on doing a manual crank of the engine which is still full of Seafoam and wd40. (Plan to try that Saturday or Sunday as giving it a full week to soak)

I can’t see any sense in leaving it uncovered any longer than you need to Darren? It seems a large part of the car issues are down to water and this will be making things worse

You need a fairly thick trim removal tool with a hook on the end if the window won’t operate
It hooks under the fir tree and allows you to pull up

Did you have a look at the chains via the blanking plate yet?

That trim kit will suffice too. I have a similar one myself and i even keep one of those in the glove box. I got locked inside the car once and it helps to be able to remove the trim easily. I also only use 3 fir trees on the upper door cards too which makes things even easier.
