What a day! Spent all morning trying to get the Mrs's Trans am Project to start after the new cooling system! Turns out the positive cables pulled out from the terminal (inside the sheathing) at the battery which had me foxed for a while!

Cars are in the drive together tonight (it took me and four neighbours with a rope holding the D back, to get it down the street (zero brakes foot or hand!)

A couple of pics. The car is now infamous in our village!

The handbrake is something of an optional extra on a D. Very few actually work properly.

Well it is certainly getting wet tonight. First order made to Arran includes the top door seals? Mine have holes in so expecting it to be wet in the morning before it goes under cover. However that was not the highlight of today. Spot the rubber holes below. Next post for cylinder grime.

Mine are the same. Im still working up the courage to drill out the rivets. You dont want to slip and hit the torsion bar. Ive seen people use some garden hose to help protect the bars. You also need to be careful when riveting the new rubber as you can easily dent the top of the door. I may have found another way using sheet screws

So I thought I would start with the engine bores. Spark plugs 1,2, Fine, 3 has a chip in the porcelain but came out ok. All are dirty/rusty in the tubes but the tips are ok. 5 and 6 came out ok but 4 is not letting me get a socket on yet. Will hoover and poke around in there tomorrow but it’s rusty dusty, or aluminium crusty all round!.

I put some Seafoam in all five and now have a WD40 syringe that I have been pumping in and out off three cylinders so far. Image of some of the sediment below. Will try and get images of the bores uploaded tomorrow.

All this before I try to crank it.
