There's nothing like sorting the car out 5 days before euro tec. The distributor mechanical advance timing was out and suspect split in vacuum advance as it didn't hold vacuum.:

It's all back together now, timing redone and basic tune to drive it. I need to check if the oxygen sensor is switching correctly, but it'll be worth getting fresh fuel.

Air con recharge, tracking (geometry) to check then pack up for the weekend. Hopefully it'll get done add I've scheduled not to be on site this week, just meetings.

Not long to go !

I've not posted much as I've been a bit busy due to work commitments. So, to catch up:

On the way back from Eurotec, my alternator failed. I got a quick delivery from DeloreanGo and fitted it with a simple rewire.

https://www.deloreango.com/uk/delorean-alternator.html

Although a success and overjoyed to fix as I had to limo the D home, unfortunately I noticed that I had a split CV boot on the left rear drive-shafts.

Another quick delivery from DeloreanGo again supplied the relevant kit:

https://www.deloreango.com/uk/cv-axle-boot-kit.html

I really don't know how he can get stuff delivered so quick! I don't question it, I just enjoy it.

Unfortunately, due to work commitments and personal stuff to catch up on, I haven't had chance to play on the D. I finished up taking the D to the garage beginning of December to get the CV boots done as my garage pit flooded and no time to fix it. They sorted out pretty quick though and the car is drivable at least.

A bit note to Mike, Dan and Mec for keeping my car enthusiasm going despite other stuff going on, which is great, and to Arran for helping me sort out my car valuation for my insurance, which I should have done earlier.

And finally, today I mostly caught up with a backlog of central locking module repairs:

viewtopic.php?f=25&t=22&start=40

So, the plan is to remove all the accumulated crap from around the D and give it some recommissioning time.

My just over one year old 80ah 800 CCA Vectra battery will now take place of the 096 from my astra as it got a bit tired limping me home in June. (Vectra gone. .. )

I need to then give the car a recommission and TLC, staying with the valve clearances as there's a slight tick.

To Be Continued !!!!

1st Feb 2020:
"So, the plan is to remove all the accumulated crap from around the D and give it some recommissioning time."

23rd Mar 2020:
Covid lockdown and Furlough, apart from that I work for a utility and classed as a "Key Worker". I've never done longer hours during this period than anything before....no garage playtime.

26th October 2020:
As others are finally coming back to working non furloughed state, my hours are getting back to 'normal', so I finally had chance to sort the accumulated crap from around the D and give it some TLC in readiness for the 6 month UK Gov delayed MOT from my usual May time.

Anyway, the Car passed the MOT without an advisory too. A bit of a relief considering lack of time of late.

I must thank Mike W, MEC, Dan and Ryan for keeping my enthusiasm going and especially to Arran and DGO for the quickest delivery of parts ever to enable this. Who needs Amazon with this prime service?
