Definately different ball joints to those pre-installed the Swingle arms I bought in 2016.

He advised caution when replacing bj's in ally arms.

Will be checking mine asap! Good luck Domi.

You really should. Otherwise the Ali will dissolve over time. A smear of Duralac is really needed.

I've seen plenty of Ali eaten away by this type of differing metals placed together. Early lotus Elise uprights are a great example

Ok,
I think I can see what might have happened here

The washers have been fitted with all good intentions but it is likely that they have accidently been trapped between the nylock nut and the shoulder at the top of the taper.
This being the case then this was the tightness that you felt when doing up the nut with a wrench as opposed to the tightness of the taper in the hole.

Just a few minutes driving would be enough for the washers to become free and the nuts to undo until one separated and the other was almost undone.

It is the only reason that I can think of why both would come undone so quickly.

Anyway, the most important thing is that you are ok Domi and hopefully it is not too big a job to put right.

I would personally leave the washers out when you fit the new ones that Arran is sending.

I hope this helps

Cheers

Look on the positive side Domi, imagine the mess it would of made to standard LCAs
Lucky you have the aluminium arms, shows that they are very strong and well worth the investment
