I can see your fear of import - I had the same thing, but am probably over it now. I just think these days it's the only way of getting a half decent car (over here) for reasonable money. Over here if it works then it's £20k, anything else looks like this - obviously I'm generalising. But just be prepared to spend a few grand sorting it out - wherever it comes from. Mine came from England for £15.5k (a few years ago) and still cost a few grand to put right.

I imported the 2 of mine for a combined cost of £18k including taxes. Obviously one was a runner and the other a project. Even the project one was worthwhile as I sold my first, spent £7k on it and am only £11k out of pocket. The exchange rate when I bought mine was $2.03 with the runner costing $16,500 and the non-runner $9,000. I found the best way was to buy from a club member in the states through dmctalk.com.

Hi Guys,

I'm new here so I don't want to start by opening a new topic immediately.

I'm looking for a DMC-12 in Europe, preferably in the Continent, because I'd like to drive it back to Hungary and I don't want to get confused by driving on the "wrong" side of the road But driving to Dover from e.g. Canvey Island (PJ Grady EU HQ - approx. 80 miles) would be no problem of course. It could be also OK to drive from Belfast to Cork or Rosslare for a direct ferry to France.

I will use the DeLorean for hobby purposes, not as a daily driver, but I'd like to find one that's able to be driven home (about 1000 miles). So a "project car" is not for me. Cosmetic problems are OK, also is an A/C leakage.

My budget for the sale price is around GPB 15.000 or EUR 17.000 (but I definitely don't want to spend GBP 20.000); cars from the USA (and also from Switzerland) are not OK because I need a valid EU licence.

If you can recommend me some sites to check that would be of help too!

I've already checked out PJ Grady, Ed and the other well-known sources (e.g. autoscout24.de, carandclassic.co.uk, classiccarsforsale.co.uk) and of course have seen the thread you recommended but dmcjohn says he should know in the next 2 to 3 weeks if he'll be selling.

Do you think it'll be possible to buy a DMC in the Eurofest?
