Well I'd bought the Volvo engine as it seemed like to good an opportunity not to - and I thought if I put the cams in it too it would be a worthy swap. Whether it has been or not is of course open to debate
Have decided that there a two things left to do in the HCs saga - firstly try a different emissions machine - the one I've been using that tells me I'm up at 4000 is different to the one I previously had readings of 700 on. So could perhaps be more sensitive/differently calibrated.
And I've also found a local classic car mechanic who has a proper smoke machine so going to get it tested properly for vacuum leaks. Once that's done I should be in a better position to actually pass the next MOT! (and of course have the satisfaction that the car is running as it should)
