I bought a peugeot 306 with a smashed window, no keys and no logbook once I filled out a form from the dvla and they sent me the logbook through.

Log Book just lists the 'Registered Keeper of the vehicle', not necessarily the 'Legal Owner'

I bought a moped years ago for £150 with no Log Book, but I checked the reg/vin before purchase and then applied to the DVLA and got a new log book in my name.

You're far better running the VIN/Plate through carfax etc... than you are worrying about a Log Book.

It was my first DeLorean bought from Dundee Motors, me and JRG went to get it, the logbook followed 4 weeks later!
