Hi guys,

I don't know if I'm selling or not yet - but if I do I'll be looking for at least 20,000 euros / £17,500. I should know in the next 2 to 3 weeks if I'll be selling - I'll update the ad then.

Thanks,
John

Re: NOT FOR SALE - 81 DeLorean for sale (possibly)

Postby dmcjohn » Fri Nov 04, 2011 10:49 am

Hi all,

My DeLorean is now definitely for sale - this time I'm definitely selling it, whereas earlier in the year I was unsure and decided against selling it at the time.

I've a few jobs to do on it - the clutch slave went a few weeks ago so I'm just fixing that now. Also, I'll get the headliners done, and the front bumper painted, but otherwise she is in great shape.

I'll get the car onto a lift and take some detailed pictures of the chassis to show how the galvanising is holding up since the restoration back in 2005.

So, anyone who is interested please get in touch! If the car doesn't sell over the next few weeks, it will go on ebay early in the new year.

I haven't seen many cars sell recently so not sure what they make nowadays - I'd like to get somewhere around 22k euros but will consider offers.

Thanks,
John
PS - I don't have access to change the thread title to remove the "NOT FOR SALE" piece - could someone do that for me please? :)

FOR SALE - 81 DeLorean for sale (possibly)

Hi John,

So for my first forum post I'll inundate you with irrelevant questions; what would need doing to get the car to the UK, costwise? Your car is just above my budget at the moment so just wondering if you knew what extra I would need to do!
Thanks

Hi Kevin,

It has an Irish NCT (Equivalent of MOT), so I wouldn't expect any issues in passing the MOT, except for the need to add a rear fog light which is quite easy and cheap.

Other than that, I don't know what the charges are for registering it in the UK, but I can't imagine they would be that much? Maybe some of the lads here can advise what would be involved.

Lastly you'd have the cost of a ferry to the UK - I wouldn't mind bringing the car to Hollyhead and meeting a buyer there, and I could get the boat home again to Ireland. Or, you can fly over to Dublin, I'd pick you up at the airport in the car and you can bring it home on the boat yourself!

Thanks,
John

Thanks John,

I'll wait to see if anyone chimes in with anything I should be aware of when importing from Ireland!

FOR SALE - 81 DeLorean for sale (possibly)

Postby A Van » Fri Nov 04, 2011 11:03 pm

No import tax to pay, you should e able to insure it on the vin number.
Then a trip to the DVLA to get it registered, after you have it MOT'd
It might seem little bit of hassle but it's had a frame off, and at that price it's a bargain, lots of bits replaced etc
