Back in 2001 the concourse 'spec' was as the car left the factory and most of the cars that entered had been modified in some way, even non NCT tyres lost you points or non OEM gas struts etc. Vin 5930 is a nice car but not as the concourse manual dictated at the time although in the competition in 2001 it was the closest out of all the cars entered. I think this year there was a long stronger competition with some nice original cars like Tony Openshaw's car.

I believe in the last few years some of the rules in the concourse manual have been relaxed slightly to take in account changes in tyres etc

The engine is an interesting one, as I believe the very early cars / 1st shipment of engines where 2.7. No doubt James Espey could confirm or deny this. How come Vin5930 comes to have an early engine is a mystery though, I wonder if it was an early car that had a later Vin added like some of the RHD cars.

I believe that engine was the standard engine fitted to the car, although I'm not sure why - test mule? - Robert can confirm this

Hi guys,

Yes, I bought the car, it's in Hungary now. Thanks to Ed from delorean.eu, I managed to connect the blue with the brown/blue wires, thus setting the headlights to "always on" :) (I pushed the switch too hard, it got stuck, removed it, then it got fire because of short circuit :o )

I've only driven another Delorean once, a manual one (with a stock engine I assume), and I have to say, mine feels way more powerful, but that may be accounted to the RPM-ranges of the 3 gears and that the other car's engine was not 100% in shape. My other car (a Honda Civic) also has 140 BHP but the DeLo has so much more torque that I would have never imagined (you sure would have :D ).

My "30 BHP plus" assumption was obviously wrong, Euro spec only means the lights of the car have the "E" sign.

The car has been to some competition for sure, but has not won a prize as I understand, there was a sticker on the windshield about the event but not a prize.

Anyway, it's so much fun to drive, though it has a lot to do (brakes, tyres, etc). The body is almost perfect.

First of all, congratulations!

Are you sure its safe to drive already, even though the brakes and tyres need work? I would hate to see that almost-perfect body damaged! Take care!

Robert, do you know if this picture was taken at the geneva motorshow?
And congratulations to the new owner, of course!

I was there!

I remember going down to the Kings hall to see a Delorean at a car show with a work colleague, But I did not start DMCL till March.!
Was there a other show later on in the year?
