Oh and welcome Ian

Bloody hell Rob!

Those original springs have no place on a dmc these days :)

Thanks for the welcome messages.

I can remember how the car used to handle prior to springs being changed. It doesn't seem to handle nearly as well now, so new springs have got to go in favour of the originals. I think that the nose high stance is a small sacrifice if I can get the car back to handling how it used to.

A good friend in Manchester that you all probably know removed dent for me and done a stirling job. Just need to get it back on the car now.

Where did you get the lowered springs Ian?

Changing mine to the lowered set made a fairly big difference in terms of handling, visibility and looks. My springs are just the poor quality 'collapsibles' which need changed soon as they are now too low.

If the car is handling worse now, I'd suggest that either the lowering springs are the old Chrispy ones which have probably had it (most of those only lasted 2 years tops) , and/or the bushes are shot and need replacing. Certainly going back to OEM springs over a pair of Ed's performance ones isn't going to improve the handling - it'll make it much worse! :D

Hey Ian long time no chat :) Hope things are good with you and the family

Great to hear you brought back #10264. I saw your T panel last week, once the dent had been removed, looked great.

Hope to catch up at an event sometime soon, maybe a EuroTec event sometime :)

T Bar does look the business and DH did do it.

We're all very well thanks Chris, how are you? Once I've got these jobs done, car should be out and about shortly but have to contend with a house move in between which may put things on the back burner for a while. Have you still got your car, last I heard you had an Esprit? Love those cars!

Bushes on car are fine, but can't be sure where the springs came from. They were put on the car in the last six years, but no details when or who did it. Car did handle really well before so if I can get it back to that standard, then I'll be extremely happy. Current springs are in tact and have not sunk at all, but car now seems to crash through every imperfection in the road and tramlines terribly. Never did that before. Wherever the springs came from, I think they are particularly nasty so they are scheduled for the scrap heap when I get a moment. Will probably get original springs repainted first so will probably put off change until next year.

Hi Ian,

DH did speak kindly of you and your car, when I met him at Tatton park a couple of months ago. :D

Are you CERTAIN it's the springs?

From what you describe it sounds more like the shocks.
