Yes on my link above.... ;) - but technically they are too low speed rated too, although closer to "stock" speed rating.

In practice you don't need to worry about the speed rating even if you drive for hours at 130mph - it's potentially only an issue for insurance. I did some calcs on the load rating for the Grabbers, even with the weight on the rear of a DeLorean they're only a fraction of what they're designed to go up to (and what the speed rating is based on). And of course there's going to be a hefty safety margin designed in too. I'd bet my house on the fact that if I drove at top speed indefinitely in the D something else would break before the tyres burst through heat :D

I'm not disagreeing with anything you've said Jez.
Someone at work had a minor shunt (bumpers and lights damaged) and when they inspected the car they said as the tyres are incorrect for the specification of the car (because of the speed rating) that they wouldn't pay out. He's going back to the fast fit centre that put H rated tyres on instead of the V ones for his car to claim against them. Good luck to him on that one. .

His tyres were fine, but it's the insurance get out clause aspect I'm concerned about.

You may have gathered I hate insurance companies and I do confess I am a T crosser and i dotter with the paperwork, especially with the contracts I deal with at work and all insurance aspects. .....

That's a shocker AB - do you know which insurance company your colleague was with that refused to pay out?

They'd also probably get out of it by saying it has lowering springs, different headlights, exhaust etc. Where does it all end. Mines just insured as a Delorean job done. Best thing to do is don't have an accident ;)

Yeah I think you'd be particularly unlucky to be in that position with a D, when you can't even buy the original tyres any more... nor is there accessible information on what speed rating they should be. Just point them to the contemporary Road and Track road test that only got 109mph out of one :)

It also says 'control in panic stop: fair'

I wouldn't have even said control while cruising in a straight line was 'fair' !!

I have it all declared on mine with no increase in premium.

You won't have the accident Dan, it's the other road idiots that'll cause it

Or an "accidental" fire made worse by non-OEM tyre burn rate

Interested to read all the comments about insurance and specifically giving details of alterations to the insurance company. Admin Bloke, which alterations have you told the insurance people about? I also have H-rated Grabbers on my car and while i will swap them for V-rated tyres when they need replacing I don't fancy buying new ones while the Grabbers are still OK.
