Many thanks for the encouragement from Alistair and Nigel. Visited the DeLorean stand at the NEC today and spoke to the owners of two exhibits . Asked lots of questions about ownership and their responses were quite informative and reassuring. So will be pleased to hear of any examples coming up for sale in due course.
There is a late entry DeLorean in the Silverstone (NEC) auction tomorrow. It looks a nice example, number 004400 - I believe. Would have been interested myself with a little bit more prior warning. It is for sale without reserve.

Apparently the car is finished in the "correct brushed aluminium body". Bad news for all us stainless panel clad owners...

I had a look at this car today. The seats weren't very good. It needed new struts on the bonnet, and the louvre had odd struts, one longer than the other so it was twisted when open. There were a few minor dings too here and there. Over all looked pretty tidy, but of course no idea how it drives. If that went for 25k, then mine must be worth 26+ with the new seat covers, among other upgrades like balljoints etc.
