Warranty sounds good :)

Please also take a look at all DeLoreans for sale in the UK

The story of the Delorean fiasco has been told many times and was always seen as a con siphoning off millions from the Irish government but the end result of the DMC12 was surprisingly far from being a con.

For its period the car was a contemporary design with quite stunning looks and let’s be honest there has been nothing similar built since.

When you consider that Colin Chapmans Lotus Design and Giugiaro were the designers it actually has a great pedigree and the only car produced with a stunning stainless steel body finish.

With its notoriety and fame fuelled by the Hollywood publicity machine there has been an acknowledgment of the DMC 12 during the past couple of years and collectors and enthusiasts alike are ready to accept that it is a viable investment.

This lovely example was imported from the USA early this year and has been well cared for with full UK registration and recent servicing replacing front Euro spec springs, stainless water tank, alternator, hydraulic struts, door seals, calipers, fuel accumulator etc.

She is complete with handbooks, spare keys ,overmats and some history in the file.

On the road she is smooth and very easy to cruise around in and draws a crowd whoever you go in her.

Supplied fully multi point checked and with a comprehensive warranty.

Isn't this the Anglia car auctions D?

I think with the hammer price and commission it's not far away from what they are asking for the car now?

Hi guys,

Are there any pitfalls with the auto over a manual on the DeLoreans?

Also, I know there were 3 bonnet types and this one bears the later flat bonnet - but as this is an '81, should it not at least have a grooved bonnet?

Overall it looks lovely - does anyone have any more info on the condition underneath etc?

Cheers
Tris

Hi Tris,

You'll see a lot of banter between us here on which is better. But in reality, there isn't much in it between the two. An auto with the club performance exhaust fitted, and updated auto box computer is pretty quick. It depends on personal preference, some folks prefer a manual, while others prefer an auto. Go for a car with the gearbox which best suits your driving style.

Cars manufactured from December '81 had the flat bonnet. However this Vin is an October build so if it has a flat hood, it has either been changed through the choice of a previous owner (although I can't imagine why someone would do that), or it has been replaced through necessity i.e. accident damage.

On taking a quick look through the pictures the car is missing the centre console vents, and it appears that someone has made a bit of a hack job of moving the stereo up. In stock form the centre console vents are at the top, followed by the stereo, and then the hvac panel.

Thanks for the info Mike.

Honestly, I just want a good DeLorean. Whether that's a manual or auto, grey or black interior - I don't mind. I'd prefer a manual, but really just want the best DeLorean I can afford.

I've been around the cars sooo long without owning one, I feel the year is coming where I must finally have one.
I used to put the DeLorean for sale ads up on the DOC website many moons ago - that was like torture!! Lol

Anyway yes, the stereo area does look rather hacked about, which is a shame.

I'm not in a rush. Have to get rid of my Harley first in order to part fund this investment :)

Cheers
Tris

Hey Alistair!!

I know - it's been waaaay too long. And I'm still without my dream car :(

I've thought a lot about importing, but really am scared (for want of a better word) about doing it.
I've read about it and had a chat over email with Chris at PJ Grady too.

It's the unknown about not actually viewing the car - although I am going to Houston in February to visit my sister...... So I may take a look while I'm there..... It'd be rude not to call into DMC Houston :D

I imported my car, and sorted the import (and subsequent restoration) of a second for a friend. There is nothing to be worried about, and you have a much wider choice of cars available. So if you are after a particular model year, transmission, interior colour that isn't available over here then it's the way to go. You would also save yourself a few quid going down the import route.

Where abouts are you located?
