Spoke briefly over eBay, owner isn't particularly helpful and would rather you come and view the car. Unfortunately isn't anywhere near me and not going on a whim.

Owner doesn't want to give out the VIN. "Please come and view if interested not giving vin out anymore it has some history "

Regarding if it's registered -

"Didn't want car in my name. Doesn't make sense to put it up for sale and register in my name."

Suspicious?

I would say its suspicious. It has to be bad history if the seller is unwilling to reveal the vin.

And the not wanting to register it in their name is just a lame cop out, it would actually help the car to sell if it was registered and on the road.

So let's have a look at the bad points;
-unregistered
-lack of info from seller/not forthcoming
-dash mat covering dash and binnacle (possible badly sun damaged and or cracked)
-states it has a list of receipts but doesn't list what has been replaced on the car
-random cables in the engine bay
-at least one of the door struts is shagged
-both rear indicator lenses are faded
-random/home brew exhaust fitted
-front fascia has eyebrows over the headlights

Good bits;
-Lee Pattison OE seat covers

Seller claims it "goes better than other deloreans" they has driven which means they have possibly owned one before. With this in mind they should know full well what any prospective purchased would want to see/know. It could be that they are deliberately withholding the information based on some history with the vin.

As its unregistered, there is no mention that they have a clean USA title document or the NOVA form from HMRC. Both of which are required to register the car for use in the uk.

So yes, a few red flags on this one, and a good reason to go in with a low ball offer for anyone who was interested in trying to purchase it.

Excuse typos etc, written on my phone.

Great points thanks Mike. I forgot to mention he did admit to a crack on the binnacle, odd that it's all covered though.

What causes the eyebrows on the front fascia? Is that where someone has fixed the drooping and turned the problem on it's head? ;)

I would avoid that car unless the price is adjusted considerably and we can inspect the car

I would still stay away from it Max, unless the seller is going to be a lot more forthcoming with information.

You would be best just waiting for another car to come up for sale that shows detailed pictures of everything inside and out, and a full list of what has/hasn't been replaced.

Will do, cheers Mike.
