The cable was actually made by a firm in Dublin a load of years ago. Maybe I should look at a new one from Dmch?

He is :)

But if you think you need a new one let me know I have some already made up from pre stretched quality stainless cable with an end crimped and soldered on

You are very welcome to one

I would take the one you have out and give it a good clean . I would reinstall by covering it with normal chain oil

Sounds good Mike, how much are you looking for one?

The throttle cable in the car has always needed an extra spring on the spool so I'd like to get a standard one (or one made to proper oem specs). Oiling probably wont cure it.

Superb Bozzy, owe you one.

The pedal itself is fine.

With the throttle cable disconnected, everything was fine. But I didnt really suspect the cable as I said because it moves freely - so I had though the springs in the spool maybe werent great.

Update.

Bozzy's cable was installed last night, and some furthur tweaking of the throttle linkage was made, and I now have a returning throttle spool!...Almost lol, I still need a small spring but it comes back to idle and the pedal is soft so I'm happy.

Thanks Bozzy and co.
