Grey passenger side carpet pieces required

Postby Max Power » Mon Nov 03, 2014 1:42 pm

I need 2 pieces of original grey carpet, mine has been eaten away by a battery acid spill. The bit I need is passenger side under the seat and piece by the inner sill. The rest of the carpets are fine so reluctant to buy a complete set.
So if anyone is replacing a set is has done so and kept the old bits just in case I'd be glad to hear from you.
Regards Max

Hi Max

I have just checked my old set of grey carpets, and I don't know why I have kept them they all need throwing away,

I think Mike Ward is changing his soon, could try him?

They will probably clean up OK Al, if they are not worn then a clean and re-dye should sort them.

I was going down the route of changing them as I didn't think the drivers side carpet could be saved (owing to the clutch master leaking into the footwell and staining it brown):

But after a clean it has come up really well:

I'm going to re-dye the carpets at some point over the next week or two, will post up some shots once complete.

They are worn, basically whatever isn't ripped or worn is badly sun damaged I don't think even a re dye would work

Mike - that carpet looks great. What did you use to clean it?

I have bits of dark grey but not the one behind the seat where the battery box is.

My friend does carpet cleaning for a living, so I gave him all of the carpets to run his machine over. The drivers side was the one i was worried about as it had the brake fluid staining on it, all the others just had general dirt on them.

They all came up really well, obviously the main ones are the foot well pieces:

I guess a Rug Doctor would be something similar to what my friend uses.

Once I get them back, I am going to dye them, hopefully they will then look good as new, and thats a significant amount of cash saved by not having to buy a new carpet set.

The only bits I need are the the one under the passenger seat and along the inner sill passenger side.
