Inner "Angel Eye" H4 Headlamp

Postby Rissy » Wed Sep 16, 2015 10:40 am

Does anyone have any ideas about where to source these?

I've done various searches for H4656 and H4651 in both CB and ST variants and can find the outer ones fairly easily, but I'm having trouble trying to find the inner ones with the angel eye addition. I've also looked under "082402".

I know Ed is doing a set, but they are pricey.

My outer ones right now, are Hella's, and my inner ones are non-descript, only having "TOP" embossed on the glass to show orientation, but they have the Halo/Angel eye in LED format. For both my inners and outers, they don't sit in the bucket, more ON the bucket, meaning the lamp bezel is literally the only thing holding them in place, with LONG srews and everything bent and twisted to do so. This gives me the added problem that whenever I remove the bezel, when it comes to putting it back, the alignment doesn't necessarily go back to the way it was, because the screws with the bezel are sitting proud, this allows the lamp to "swim" around inside the bucket because it doesn't sit IN it. (difficult to explain)

Anyway, this has finally prompted me to see if there is a way I can sort this issue, by replacing the lamps. I've bought a set of outers from Ebay, but the inners are proving to be more of a challenge.

The lamps seem to be in and around the 165mm by 100-105mm region for physical size for both inners and outers.

Also.

Does anyone know where I can get the rubber seals which go over the terminals of the H4 connections for the bulbs for these style lamps? I'm not sure what search words to use on eBay etc.

Does anyone else have spoons in the lights, covering the bulbs? (As seen here in the picture with the dark spots where the light intensity is reduced)

Those inner lights are from Summit Racing in the US. Not sure if you have the nice glass ones or the nasty plastic ones. Depends what was fitted by the previous owner !

Thanks for that Dan. Coming from the U.S. though doesn't represent any sort of a cost saving. The contrary in fact. Ed's Angel Eye lights would be cheaper in this case.

I think because of the fact people are not able to advise me of any other route, this tells me i'm probably going to struggle. Even if i plumped for Ed's units, these may also give me the same issue i'm having already with my current lamps.

I got a new set of outers from ebay, but they've been supplied without the rubber grommet which goes over the end of the bulb for water proofing. I got them at a reduced price as a result. So could probably just swap over the rubbers I have on my current outers on to them, but then if the rubbers DO fit them, then these will probably also have the same problem as I already have with my current outers.

I may just have to resort to cutting out my buckets more and try to get my existing four lights to fit in them properly.

Why not just stick 4 normal lights in, no messing around, no cutting the buckets, and cheaper too.

What it left the factory with. Or if you insist on having a built in side light bulb then still have stock for the inners and just change the outer pair for these, as mec suggested:
