XYB 722W - Anyone know it?

Postby wythet » Sun Sep 12, 2010 4:56 pm

Hi Everyone,

My parents found some old pictures of the first delorean I ever saw for real back when I was 10 (over 20 years ago).

It belonged to a guy in my local village or Chard in Somerset. I was extremely lucky and the guy took me for a ride in it. I took a load of pictures. I had always planned to try and track the car down but lost all the pictures over time. Luckily my parents found one with the registration plate in it!

I would love to know what happened to it if anyone knows?

It was almost 10 years before I saw another one.

Now I finally have my own I would love to get together with whoever owns it now.

Thanks,

Thomas.

Are you 100% sure on that plate? The DVLA has no record of it at all ( www.taxdisc.direct.gov.uk "vehicle enquiry") - which means either the plate is wrong, it was scrapped or exported a long long time ago, or changed plates after your photo. Lots of these cars have personalised plates - I don't know what Malc's plate was before for example (although that was Scottish). "YB" means Taunton, so the area is correct.

I know, for example - this one: viewtopic.php?p=16267#p16267 is now on a personalised plate, and not far from Chard at all......

Actually my car is not on the DVLA website either! :? - so not a reliable source! - But I have checked on the MyCarCheck iPhone app and my car is, and this one isn't. Could just have not been taxed for years and years.

100% on the plate. I have the pic of the car here.

This was 20 years ago now. The guy lived outside chard and also had a Morgan. He owned a chain of hairdressers I think. The garaged one could be a possibility. Would be good to know more!

Thanks,

Thomas.

It could be Keith Pratt, I am not sure that he had a chain of hairdressers though, he did have quite a few DeLoreans at one stage and a load of parts.

Tracey Steele's car was on a similar reg XYB 627W, which was one of Keiths old cars.

EDIT

Its not Keith Pratt, but Keith will know his name Thomas and a number for him, you can contact him on

When I bought my car off Keith (many years ago-spares or repair!),he told me that he had ownership of 2 DMCs, one of which was mine YFJ 251 X (#10556). My car was used as a donor car to repair the other DMC, when problems arose parts were 'exchanged' to get the car running, but when I rebuilt the engine on mine, it fired and ran ok with no problems from the removed parts, the best part of the engine was behind the drivers seat! XYB 722 W may be the other car he had. 8-)
