Here's a close up of the other side of the sandwich plate / crankcase, with the bolt corroded in. This one is conceivably less terminal than the other side. TT what do you think?

Just had a look on Ed's parts site - a new one is 334 Euros - without shipping. DPNW don't seem to have any second hand ones in stock at the moment either :(

I guess if this crankcase is dead then the only other person who has a spare one to replace TT's one I've bagsied is Dan. Could I conceivably buy your old one off you Dan if you also do the swap? Or the 'new' one if you don't?!

Sorry Gez, mine is now sealed, torqued and angle tightened onto my block, I don't want to take the one off my Delorean engine either as its a good working engine with no leaks i don't want to disturb it. Gez have you asked Martin if he still has one? Also getting one from DMCH would probably be cheaper with the exchange rate and I could pick it up for you when I'm over next, depending on how urgent TT needs it of course....

Have you spoken with DPNW? Just becuase its not on their site doesnt mean they dont have a shagged old engine in the corner of the workshop they could strip for you, as they did for me.

Also work checking with the other vendors out there, Rob Grady, Josh Bengston etc

Can't you take it to an aluminim fabricator and have it repaired? I'd be supprised if it's beyond repair.

The company that do my numberplate surrounds do all sorts of aluminium related work.

TBH without seeing the broken one next to a good one I'm not sure what to look out for as I've never looked in detail at that area of the engine.

I've pinged DPNW and Josh emails, will wait to hear back. TT wanted to see pics of the crankcase as he knows places which can repair I think. If that's possible then that'll be the preferred option I think!

get the egine mounts machined off and then bolt on new machined alloy one's from the inside, I would not weld them because the alloy composition is shit. I might have some alloy block in work, give me some rough dimensions and I'll see what I can do.

There is quite a bit of strain on those mounts, especially as you have put new rubber mounts in which will have no give at all for a while, so it needs to be pretty spot on.

I think the idea is this wouldn't happen quickly enough so I take TT's to put on my engine and then I'd replace his with either a repaired version of my one or another if that's not possible... But in any case you'd hope a repair would be strong enough to take fresh stiff mounts!
