Washers haha, Ed's gonna laugh! But I am not bothered with shopping for the right one as I do not have a comparison to bring along.

Crap. I received this order and guess what was missing. The plastic o-rings I needed to seal up the clutch slave.

Apparently these rings are no longer available (thats what Ed said anyway and I tend to believe him). He suggested to use a copper ring instead. Good luck the new gasket kit came with a lot of these, and with the ones I retrieved from the fuel lines I might have one that fits.

wowzy.. 2 sub-projects finished!

- replaced the clutch line weeehhaaaaa!
- connect all the water hoses weeehaaaa!

I was just gonna check up on the garage for any brake fluid leakage but it was all good and decided to rip out the old clutch line. Ah well lets put the new one in... Okay... Now reconnect the water hoses around the clutch slave.. Oh and replace the bushings on the gear linkage while i am under the car.. Now I only need to be under the car once more to put the tie-raps in and screw the tank plate back.. The days on my back are almost over!

Update: rebuilding the air intake has taken another delaying blow, as I don't have the o-rings for the y-pipe. They did not come in the gasket kit, although it seems to have every other bit of gasket or o-ring involved in rebuilding an engine.

Today I went to a Volvo garage which was very helpful in finding the cross reference parts, but they didn't have em in stock. Have to wait to monday or tuesday before they arrive at the soonest.. I went to find generic o-rings of the proper diameter, came up with something called R-24.1, but I doubt they are thick enough to seal properly.

I've mailed Ed with the problem; if he has some I might take the 2 hour drive to Hem to pick em up. I really wanted to finish the VOD job this weekend.

So frustrated. This is the second time in two weeks where I can't continue because of a 50 cents bit of kit.

Couldn't wait - went to Ed U this morning just to pick up 2 o-rings, talk about fuel economy haha!

When I came back at 11am, I started rebuilding the damn intake. I put in the o-rings, torqued up the water pipe, fastened all jubilees, bled the clutch. After that I put another layer of paint on the intake manifold and the W-pipe.

While that paint is drying, I can finally sit back and relax a bit, have some food too.

Today I spent most of the day rebuilding the intake. Around 13:00, I took a break. At that time I finished doing the vacuum hoses, the intake manifold, the injectors and the HT leads. After my little break I continued with other bits around the engine, like the CSV, Idle motor, throttle control etc.

I just stopped trying to fit the fuel bolts back on. The last one snapped while twisting it in with my fingers. Looks like it was already very weak. I have not yet torqued these bolts down, just fingertight.

I was a big day, with a lot of work. I know I am really close to getting it running again, just need to charge the battery and get some replacement bolts for the fuel dizzy. I only need to go under the car once more to refit the tank plate and the rear bottom screens. Then 3695 can be lowered to its wheels for a first start in months.
